  1. The magnetic coil on a Tecumseh engine interacts directly with the engine's flywheel in order to provide for proper motor operation. The distance between the two parts is known as the air gap. An improperly spaced air gap can result in engine failure.

Original Model: H35 & H40 3.5hp & 4hp Tecumseh
This engine had a 2nd PTO shaft to run the reverse gear on the tiller.
You can use a 3, 3.5, or 4 hp Tecumseh or Briggs with the single shaft, but you will not be able to use reverse any longer.
You can use any of the OHV engines listed, but you might have to remove the bumper from your tiller.
